Rehearsals/Meetings:

We hold regular rehearsals/meetings (“Rehearsals”) once per week, typically on Sunday mornings 10am – Noon Pacific, about 80% of the year. We tend to take breaks around the holidays and sometimes in the summer – depending on how busy we are with various projects. TOP Actors/Advocates are expected to attend at least 1 out of every 4 Rehearsals.

Rehearsals Leading Up to a School Performance:

We run our programs on site at schools in San Diego County and virtually for schools located everywhere else. When we book a school, our Director Amy will ask each actor for conflicts related to rehearsing and performing at the school. Then she’ll cast the performance taking conflicts into account. If you’re cast, there will be 3 mandatory rehearsals (typically 3 weeks in a row and on weekends) to prepare for the school program. On the performance day, you’ll miss school, but Amy will give you an excused absense letter to turn in to your school’s attendance office. No actor has ever had a problem with the school day performance being excused by their school.

Requests for Short-Term Breaks:

All members of TOP are extremely busy with school, sports, community and professional theatre, jobs, etc. From time to time as actor has so much going on that they need to request a break from TOP for several weeks or a couple months. This is never a problem with our Director Amy! All you do is explain what’s going on and how much time you’d like to have off from TOP. She’s very flexible and will work with you so that you can accomplish everything you want to do – including being part of our mission.
