About Me

Hi! I’m Amy Jones Anichini: Founder of Act Like You Matter (“ALYM”), and Exec. Director of our division Theatre of Peace: Youth Anti-Bullying Actors & Empowerment Advocates (“TOP”). I’m also a Bullying Resilience Coach for children, teens, and families, a Bullying Prevention Consultant for schools, and an author. All of my work centers around improving peer relationships and individuals’ relationship with themselves, so that each person feels free to be exactly who they are.

Since I founded ALYM in 2015, I’ve worked with over 11,000 students and close to 700 teachers/staff at K-12 schools through the workshops we run in Southern California and mentored nearly 100 youth members of TOP. Through my experience I’ve learned that positive change in peer relationships – and, therefore, school climate – comes from both the top down (school staff) and the bottom up (students).

The combination of:

    1. A clearly written policy defining bullying and harrassment, including what are considered acceptable behaviors and ways of communicating, that are demonstrated by all adults on campus; PLUS
    2. Defined and published reporting procedures for students to follow if they experience or witness behaviors in stark contrast to what’s been defined as acceptable and respectful, AND
    3. Students noticing what’s happening on campus, not tolerating mistreatment, and choosing to engage with others every day in ways that demonstrate empathy, respect, and acceptance …

… sets the stage for healthy peer relationships and well-adjusted/happy students who are ready to learn.

Wherever your school is on this journey to improved school climate, I’d welcome the opportunity to support you and share some new ideas and strategies.

Ready to get started with new ways to reduce incidents of bullying behavior and  improve peer relationships and school climate?
