TOP is a division of Act Like You Matter, a California non-profit that seeks to promote the well-being of children, tweens, and teens so that each child feels accepted and free to be themselves without being bullied., a division of the non-profit Act Like You Matter, runs custom-designed, solution-driven Workshops for schools in San Diego County. We perform vignettes that raise awareness about bullying and demonstrate tools students can use immediately to overcome and combat bullying.

The ideal candidate for our troupe is someone who wants to use their talent to make a difference in the lives of their peers. A stipend will be paid for performances, but please do not submit if your primary goal is being paid! Our troupe is comprised of actors who value the cause more than the paycheck. Submission Requirements:

  • Seeking both male & female actors – ages 11-21. All ethnicities are encouraged to submit.
  • Actors ages 18-21 MUST have youthful appearance (look like high school kids)
  • Experience as a dramatic actor is a plus
  • Desire to make the world a better place and to make schools and communities places of tolerance and acceptance
  • Experience with bullying in your personal life is a plus but not mandatory
  • Willingness to work together as a team & value all members of the troupe
  • Able to attend at least 1 rehearsal per month in Carmel Valley (near Canyon Crest Academy)

Submit:  

  • Resume, Headshot, & brief explanation about why you want to join our Troupe
  • State whether you would like to submit a video OR attend live auditions

Post-Submission:

  • We will notify you via email if we would like to schedule an audition or accept a video
  • Prepare a 1-2 minute dramatic monologue: either previously published or original work

SCHOOL CONSIDERATIONS:

Performances take place during the school day. Director will invite Troupe members to perform at any given School Day Show, with several weeks’ advanced notice. Actors will ALWAYS have the option of declining if the date presents too much of a conflict with school. Director will provide excused absence letters for your school.
